HOW TO GET THERE
Arriving in the city of Bonneval-sur-Arc take a small road towards the hamlet of Écot. There is a car park and you can spend the night there.
WHAT TO SEE
The hamlet of Ecot is an old mountain village that has not changed for centuries. You will discover very old houses and a lifestyle forgotten today. The valley is surrounded by mountains and 2 main hiking trails. One leads to a lake and the Italian border, the second leads to a circle with several lakes and glaciers.
ABOUT THE PICTURE
I had spent the night in the parking lot near the hamlet, in my little Clio! When I woke up the windows were covered with snow. It was the first snow of the year! It was 6 a.m. and I saw a group of army men coming down from the mountain. It was raining and I would not change!
Since the rain did not stop I decided to go towards the circus Evettes. About 600 m of elevation changes. It took about 2 hours to climb, stopping every 5 minutes to take a picture – the scenery was amazing. The rain sometimes stopped and the sun lit up the mountains through clouds. At the top I saw one of the most impressive landscapes I have ever seen. A small valley surrounded by high peaks, desert atmosphere and this little haven against the mountains.
I took dozens of photos before going to take shelter in the lodge. The weather gave the place a special atmosphere and I’m glad I could be there at that moment.
